Human Factors
Hi
I've just started the diploma part 1 and have been given my first assignment on "Human Factors" - have to identify 5 different human factor problems in a workplace and show how these can be
avoided/controlled.
I'm fairly happy with the theory of HF but finding it very difficult to write about it in a way that makes sense.
Has anyone done this sort of Q before?? Pointers would be appreciated.

Yes I have faced this type of question(s) before and the best way to tackle them is to take the question back to basics.
e.g.
What is the question asking - write out (brain storm) ideas
Which factors have you identified then link them to the above
Write out each factor sevetal times on separate pieces of paper (or
computer) and then visit the question again.
Now, using the sheets of paper, list the "Problems" but be careful to study
the factors against actual people and work situations.
What makes it a problem for one but not others (eg social, domestic,
perceived or actual)
What solutions to people find to overcome them
What solutions do employers provide to overcome them
What solutions do employers ignore???
What could be put in place to assist that has not already been thought of.
What controls are in place to assist (barriers, perceived barriers, physical,
or simple signs).
Finally conclude your findings with a paragraph of how you arrived at the
conclusion.
