BP pride in safety record
BP's Grangemouth complex, at one time the recipient of severe criticism for its health and safety performance highlighted by incidents there, has now, it reports, recorded a remarkable 10 million man hours with up to 3,000 employees working a full calendar year without an absence through injury.
This fine performance is noted by the BP Grangemouth Council, a forum comprising of BP, contractors, unions and training bodies, who co-ordinate health and safety initiatives, its Joint Chairman and the Amicus Regional Officer, comments: "This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the joint efforts and engagement of the workforce of BP, contractors and the trade union site safety repsresentatives. It will also be a comfort for the families of the workforce to know that their loved ones are working in a safe environment. The Council is determined to build on the achievements of last year and not allow the Council or the workforce to become complacent as health and safety training and awareness will remain a major priority issue."
