COSHH
hi guys
can anybody help me with a report about coshh storage i e what can
and what cannot be stored together.
we have limited storage space and that sort of ties us to leaving
coshh substances all over the site.
some guidance would be extremely helpful?
regards
Sarah
Hello.
You need to look at the safety data sheets to see what reactions occur with
the chemicals you use.
Separation of chemicals can be done using a bund wall.
Also a search for coshh in
http://www.shepro.org would be useful.

Hi
Bunds are a good tool, but your choice of segregation technique must be
guided by your particular usage, for example if you are storing small
volumes of dilute acid and alkali in an area that is accessed regularly, you
may choose to keep them in the same cupboard, separated by a shelf, whereas fuming acid and conc. ammonia solution would be stored in separate units especially if you keep them in bottles with ground glass stoppers.
Without further details of your usage it is not sensible to forward advice,
but once you take all of the guidance and information into account, common sense should tell you what is needed.
