CE marking
Anyone have any idea on the requirements on the employer if equipment is modified in house ? Do we then become self-suppliers, and therefore need to CE mark the equipment.
Also, if units are being made for us by a contractor, using our design and parts, is he required to provide the CE mark ?
Cheers

That is entirely dependant on the nature of the equipment and the regulations applicable to it, and more relevantly, the directives applicable under which it was CE marked in the first place.
Modified equipment which was CE marked for purposes of the LVD may usualy be covered by a declaration of conformity or incorporation or similar, but one CE marked for the purposes of the machinery directive may require a whole new inspection and certification by a notified body.
Sorry, i know that's a pretty crappy answer that tells you diddly squat, but if you can be more specific then I will try to be. You can email me if you would rather this was "off list", at
