HSE is reviewing recent research for the purpose of offering the best advice it can on the phenomenon of acoustic shock experienced by call centre employees, and others who use headsets, in the light of emerging evidence that 'noise of high intensity and high frequency might cause symptoms at exposure levels which are lower than was previously thought to be the case.'In the meantime employers can access
