Trend of increasing workplace accidents in Irish counties
The increase in fatal accidents in Irish workplaces - 73 in 2005 represents a 20% increase from 2004 - is viewed with concern against a background of disappointing health and safety guideline compliance in certain risk sectors - just 40% in quarrying, 58% in agriculture.
However, with only 1 fatal workplace accident recorded in the Dublin area, as opposed to 9 in 2005, there appears to be a rising incidence of provincial workplaces fatalities, some counties are finding fatal accidents rising by 100%.
