Generator fire coped with safely at Dutch hospital
An electrical generator fire yesterday at Rotterdam's Erasmus Medical Centre was quickly controlled by Dutch fire crews, the generator is housed in the former Dijkzigt hospital building adjacent to the new hospital where some 80 patients, including 20 in intensive care, were relocated from the risk of smoke inhalation, other patients were restricted to their wards.
Fleets of ambulances attended the area in case a mass evacuation of patients was required, the hospital has cancelled surgery over the next 2 days.
