Train hits maintenance wagon in busy Berlin station
The collision of a Berlin metro train and a maintenance wagon yesterday in the Sudkreuz station in the city's Schoneberg district left 33 people injured, the train travelling from Tetlow to Hennigsdorf collided with the maintenance vehicle conducting ultrasound line checks on the lower level of the station on the north-south S2 line.
The Sudkreuz, formerly the Papestrasse station, has been substantially refurbished in recent years and the junction is the 2nd most important station in the city, 1,200 trains daily traverse its tracks, including 113 regional services and 65 long-distance trains.
