SPAD alleged in latest Dutch train collision
The collision of a goods train and a local train in Arnhem yesterday saw 31 passengers injured, 11 having been hospitalised, the goods train from Utrecht was bound for Germany when it struck the passenger train in the eastern area of the station, there have been allegations of a signal passed at danger (SPAD) by the 34-year old goods train driver who has been interviewed by Dutch police.
On Monday 2 empty trains collided in Rotterdam Central station, Tuesday's accident is the 12th Dutch rail accident in the last 5 years, with 3 fatalities overall.
