Dutch hospital investigates mothfly outbreak
A considerable hatch of mosquito-like mothflies has led to the closure of all 3 operating theatres at Rotterdam's Haven hospital, 2 of the theatres had detected the presence of the insects which thrive in moist areas such as water or wastewater tanks.
An urgent investigation is underway, the flies can lay up to 200 eggs which hatch within 2 days, producing the next generation within 7 weeks.
