Unsecured door caused Shanghai dredger to sink
It is speculated that an unsecured door led to the sinking of the converted ro-ro ship, the Yin Chu, which sank within 2 hours following water ingress during berthing near Napu Bridge, Shanghai.
The Yin Chu, now converted into a 15K-tonne dredger by owners Ruike Shipping Company, had been undergoing sea trials on the Huangpu river at the time, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration announced that salvage work is already underway in what is expected to be a protracted task.
