Engineers suspended after Indian rail bridge demolition accident 05.12.06
Following the weekend accident in which 35 people died when sections of a bridge in process of demolition fell on a passing train at Bhagalpur, the Indian Railway Minister has alleged lapses by contractors and rail officials responsible for the demolition project, with 3 senior engineers responsible for supervision now suspended, 'being prima facie responsible for this accident'.
The demolition work had been contracted to Bijoy Kumar Enterprises, the Indian parliament heard allegations that sections of the bridge had fallen on to the track earlier last week without incident.
