Project for underground re-routing of Hanoi electric cables
The municipal authority in Hanoi has awarded the Department of Transportation and Public Works the project to complete the modernisation and underground re-routing of the city's system of electricity supply cables, many of which still hang loosely above the city streets.
The Hanoi electric company is already well into such a programme with its own cables but the ownership of many cables is spread over various other companies.
Only last summer a Vietnamese driver lost his life, killed instantly after contacting a low hanging cable in La Thanh Street.
