Double hull prevents oil spillage as Greek tanker grounds in Baltic 12.02.07
The presence of a double hull on the Greek tanker Propontis probably prevented spillage of any of its 110K tonnes of crude oil after it grounded west of Hogland in the Gulf of Finland on Friday, sailing from Primorsk.
Cracks did appear on the outer hull of the vessel owned by Greek company Tsakos, Finnish authorities were unclear as to why it was so far off course in the Baltic.
