Proposed protocol for enforcement of fire safety in residential property
Following the enactment of the Housing Act 2004 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Fire Safety Housing Group has produced a draft Protocol Between Local Housing Authorities and Fire and Rescue Authorities to assist both groups meet their respective duties relating to fire safety within housing occupied by more than one household, and ultimately improve fire safety in these properties. The practical arrangements proposed should prevent multiple and potentially variable enforcement by different agencies.
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) has published Protocol Between Local Housing Authorities and Fire and Rescue Authorities for its members to respond to.
