Fatal crush incident at New Jersey foundry
The death of a 41-year old test press operator at the Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Co in Phillipsburg, in western New Jersey, has led to the closure of the foundry over this weekend, the victim was apparently fatally injured by a rolling 6-metre section of pipe weighing 300Kg which rolled off a rack.
The foundry has a chequered safety history, 2 accidents have already been recorded this month at the 25-acre site of the company which is owned by McWane Inc.
