Overcrowded Nepalese bus crashes on mountain road, 42 dead
At least 42 Nepalese bus passengers have died after their coach left the road in the mid-west district of Pyuthan, 200 miles west of Kathmandu, descending 100 metres down into a ravine.
The bus was travelling to Bijnwar from Sonpur with a wedding party when it failed to negotiate a tricky stretch of mountain road at Garjeni in Tiram, it has been speculated that as many as 60 people may have been on board, some travelling on the roof, which would have considerably exceeded the vehicle's capacity.
17 passengers are understood to have survived the incident and are being treated in hospitals in Nepalgunj and Butwal.
