Missouri worker pinned by concrete section fallen from crane
A Missouri construction worker was trapped by his legs under a substantial section of concrete which fell while being suspended by a crane at the site of a multi-storey garage at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, 100 miles south of St Loius.
An Albercini Constructors' crane was transferring the section to the third floor level when the incident occurred, it is not clear whether the cable snapped, causing the slab to fall, or whether the load was causing the carne to become unstable and the operator had to release it to prevent the crane tipping forward into the new structure.
The victim was trapped for half an hour, steel bars were deployed to attempt to raise the concrete section and release him.
