Los Angeles commuter train collides with car and derails, 10 dead, hundreds injured
The collision and derailment of 2 Metrolink trains following a collision with a car on the track in Glendale in the north of Los Angeles has left 10 passengers dead and hundreds injured, one of the trains had been heading from the city's Union Station to Burbank, the other was travelling to Moorpark, the force of the collision sent one of them hurtling against a Union Pacific locomotive which had been stationary overnight in a siding.
Around 300 firefighters attended the early morning incident, a triage system of medical assessment was established, with victims allocated a place on red or green matting corresponding to the extent of their injuries
