Norway drives down workplace fatalities
Reviewing its latest figures for workplace fatalities, the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority reports a 25% reduction in deaths at work, down from 50 in 2003 to 38 last year, within 1of 2001's all-time low of 37.
Given Norway's industrial profile, it may not be surprising that agriculture and forestry should account for 29% (11) of the 38 fatalities, ahead of construction which tends to record most non-fatal accidents, with male workers over 55 accounting for 95% of Norwegian workplace deaths.
