Inadequate shoring leads to fatal trench collapse in South Africa
An inadequately shored excavation at a construction site in Riviera in South Africa has led to the death of one worker and hospitalisation for 3 colleagues, the condition of the survivors, employees of Anton's Loodgieters (plumbers), is reportedly stable.
One section of the trench shoring bowed inwards under loading, rescue teams laboured painstakingly to stabilise the excavation before releasing the trapped men and recovering their colleague.
