Mechanic killed on the St Gotthard tunnel project
A 40-year old Swiss plant engineer has been killed in an accident in the NEAT Gotthard Base tunnel, in the Wallis canton, after becoming crushed between a crane and the tunnel wall.
BLS AlpTransit reports that the incident occurred at the Raron site in the eastbound tunnel which leads to Ferden, excavation in the Alpine tunnel project has now exceeded 42%
