Six residents killed in Russian old persons' accommodation fire 07.02.05
Six residents of a Russian old persons' home in Lodeinoye Pole, near St Petersburg, died in a fire in the early hours of Sunday morning, 5 succumbing to carbon monoxide poisoning at the premises, another died later in hospital.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has indicated that the room in which the victims died was shared by 7 residents, only one survived the incident which initial investigation suggests was caused by a carelessly handled cigarette.
