Faulty generator speculated as cause of South African store fire
It is speculated that a faulty generator may have been responsible for Wednesday's blaze which caused extensive damage to the Pick 'n Pay supermarket in Montana Crossing, Pretoria.
Staff were engaged in stocktaking yesterday and when power had failed on the premises, the store's emergency generator activated, coinciding with the incident.
Staff were unable to control the fire and had to flee from the store for their own safety.
