DEA officer killed in explosion involving blow torch in Peru
The application of a blow torch to open a sealed container on a lorry has led to the death of an American Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) officer and injuries to local police officers in Lima.
A lorry was suspected of containing a substantial shipment of drugs destined for the US and intelligence had led investigators to the vehicle at block 21 on Avenida Argentina, it is thought that the heat of the lamp and a build-up of gases led to the explosion
