5 car passengers killed in Belgian level crossing incident
Five car passengers were killed at the weekend when their vehicle was struck by a train on a manned level crossing in Diepenbeek, east of Hasselt in eastern Belgium.
The barriers were down, it is understood that a train had broken down and was awaiting assistance.
The car negotiated the barriers but was struck by a train travelling in the opposite direction, the vehicle being propelled several hundred metres down the track.
