Worker's foot severed in rotating equipment in cement plant
An investigation is underway in Georgia, USA, into the accident at the Cemex plant in Clinchfield, 90 miles southeast of Atlanta, in which a 52-year old worker lost a foot in rotating equipment.
It is understood that the victim had stood on the rotating screw conveying dry cement in the silo section of the plant.
Best efforts by colleagues preserved the severed foot in ice but surgical reattachment proved impossible; however, the victim is expected to be discharged from hospital by the weekend.
