Mentally ill patients seize nurse in St Petersburg
A Russian nurse is recovering from a hostage ordeal in St Petersburg after 2 patients under her charge subjected her to a 7-hour period with a knife held at her throat.
The incident occurred at the mental hospital in Arsenalnya Street, 2 inmates with records of murder abducted her and demanded a media profile and to be taken to Nikoslki Cathedral where intercessionary prayers would be offered.
Although the nurse was detained at knife point and a hammer was wielded at the outset, the incident ended without further violence when both assailants surrendered.
