South Africa: Four site workers killed riding on earth mover
Four site workers killed riding on earth mover 26.02.05
Four charges of culpable homicide and charges of reckless and negligent driving are expected to be laid against the driver of an earth grading machine on a South African construction site in Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria, in which 4 workers, including 3 women, died and 3 others received critical injuries.
It is thought that 7 persons were riding on the shovel of the machine and were travelling from the site to their Hebron base during a meal break when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled some 500 metres down an embankment.
The victims are understood to be been working on a contract to install water pipes for Rand Water and Tshwame Metro Council.
