North Sea ferry lifeboat accidents kills Norwegian seaman 01.03.05
A crewman of the MS Nordkapp, a Norwegian coastal cruise ship owned by Ofotens Vesteraalens Dampskipsselskap, has died after falling from a lifeboat in which he was working, 2 colleagues also sustained multiple fractures in the incident which occurred shortly after the vessel had left Ornes, 30 miles south of Bodo.
The 3 crewmen were working inside the lifeboat when one of them fell overboard, his rescue was accomplished by the other 2 seamen but as the lifeboat was being winched back up a cable snapped and the boat and occupants fell back down.
