Cambridge H&S blitz next week
HSE inspectors and Environmental Health (Safety) Officers (EHOs) from Cambridge City Council are next week to begin a series of commercial, industrial, and construction workplace site visits in the Cambridge area, but with a focus on manufacturing, workplace transport and working at height. Other priorities are the control of occupational asthma, slips, trips and manual handling risks.
In the East and South East of England similar exercises have covered industrial estates in Broxbourne, Watford, Dunstable, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Bedford, Biggleswade, Sandy, Cambridge, St Albans, Wisbech, Luton and Royston.
Cambridge City Council's Food and Occupational Safety Manager forewarned: "My team and I look forward to working in partnership with the HSE during this initiative and in the future, working together for the benefit of those living and working in the Cambridgeshire area.
Inspectors will give advice and guidance during these visits and offer employers an opportunity to address any areas that need attention. They will also take enforcement action to achieve the necessary improvements where people are not managing risks effectively."
